Proven Process
After being in business as iFoundAgent since 2010, working with thousands of agents and looking at all the real estate technology platforms and strategies, beginning in January 2015, we began teaching our agents a process that had them use their website similarly to how they use the MLS. Specifically, we taught agents how to set up home searches for their buyer and homeowner contacts using their website and to send these searches to their respective contacts on a monthly recurring basis utilizing a 3rd party CRM.
Our agent customers loved this idea, and we had a lot of our agents adopt this strategy.
The Feedback
As we rolled along for a year or so, we got a steady stream of feedback from our agents, and our agents got feedback from their contacts. The feedback was both good and “bad” – all being helpful.
The good feedback was that their contacts were clicking on the links that were emailed to them. We also got positive feedback that their homeowner contacts liked being kept up to date with what was happening locally around their homes versus getting newsletters and other irrelevant bits of information that they were getting from various agent marketing systems.
The “bad”, but very useful feedback was four-fold. 1. Agents were still finding that their homeowner contacts were going to Zillow to look at listings for new listings that popped up around their homes during the time between when the monthly emails were sent. 2. That some of these homeowners that went to Zillow found other agents to work with for their real estate needs, much to the chagrin of the agent who sold them their house. 3. Agents weren’t getting sufficient notifications indicating that their customers were reading their emails, visiting their website or that they were able to effectively see what their contacts were looking at/doing on their website. 4. Agents didn’t like having to manage 2 different systems given how our system was reliant on the agent having to use a 3rd party CRM system to send out the emails and view read emails and website activity etc.
All of this feedback told us we were on the right track with how we were thinking that agents could use their website to stay in touch with their contacts – especially their homeowner contacts.
A New System – Hooray!
With this feedback in hand, we went work on building a new website-IDX-contact management system that included:
– self-contained recurring email capabilities,
– instant listing updates that went out as soon as new listings and sold listings hit the MLS,
– vastly upgraded activity notifications for agents respective to what their contacts were clicking on and emails being read
– an upgraded version of our already popular and easy-to-use IDX.
– better newer website designs
It took us about a year to develop and launch our new system which we did in the fall of 2017. We’ve been going strong with our customers ever since.
