It Takes Time to Rank in Google to Get Visitors and Leads
In today’s Internet real estate world, it’s tough to rank and compete against the listing portal websites like Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, and Redfin to name a few. Add in the near 1,000,000 other personal real estate agent websites it’s easy to see competition is heavy for getting found by home searchers looking online for homes.
While it is possible to rank for real estate search terms, you have to know what you are doing (or work with someone or a company who does), take the time to do it (or have someone do it for you) and be patient. Ranking in search engines like Google is not a short-term strategy. It takes time which is one of the reasons many agents give up on this strategy.
Besides the competition, one primary reason why it takes time is that Google is watching your website to see what you are doing with it. It’s watching to see if you are working your website on a consistent basis, are you putting in content (writing blogs) that people will find valuable and are you focused on what you are providing.
Remember Google’s job is to provide searchers with relevant up to date search results which come from websites it’s deemed as an authority on the subject matter that a searcher is searching for at the time that they are searching. If you are consistently working your site over time, providing good useful valuable content, and your content is focused on a common theme Google will rank your website. In getting your site ranked, by rights, you’ll be put in front of searchers, and in the percentage game, you’ll get clicks and visitors and leads.
By some estimates, it takes at least 4-6 months to get on Google’s radar. From there, it takes time and effort to stay there and expand.
Meanwhile, what do you do with your website?
The best tip we can give you on this is: you market it to your sphere. Get your own customers interested in it. Besides current events and local business reviews or home staging tips in your blog, try providing searches that you’ve been asked for by your clients, or try providing subdivision searches for where your customers live and put these into your website. In these searches, provide closed and active listings. Then tell your clients/customers about it by sending them direct links to the searches you created. They will love you for it.
